Narrative:
When invaders attack your planet, your weak “Minister Prime” flees in disgrace. Now rebuilding, your ravaged world needs to elect a new leader. Are you the one for the job?
Aesthetic:
Alien planet. Cyberpunk style. The population is a wide mix of species, including humans, but alien too (Star Wars/Blade Runner). We use fantastical cyberpunk political issues to avoid the game being too real-world political and too serious.
Mechanics:
· The game is based around a point system. Whoever has the most points at the end of the game wins the election.
· The way you earn points is by arguing well during political debates.
· Based on the number of players in the game, there are towns. Each town has a debate. (6 players = 6 towns = 6 debates).
· Each player is randomly assigned a town. Whichever you get, you will host that town’s debate and represent its townspeople. (Players can’t debate for their own town).
· During debates, the host player will draw a random topic card and read it aloud. Then the debating players will take turns sharing their stance on said topic. The host will listen and evaluate the arguments. The host has free reign over what constitutes a good argument. They can punish debaters for interruptions or hyperbole, or they can reward them. It’s up to the host.
· Once the debate is over, the host will write down and rank each debater’s performance from best to worst. The list is then stored anonymously without the debating players knowing their scores.
· This repeats for each town, with the host changing based on the town the debate is taking place.
· Once everyone has had a chance to be the host and the debates are over, the scores are then revealed and tallied. Whoever has the most points wins the election.
